About Dental Implants

For those who have lost a tooth or teeth, dental implant treatment is an excellent option. It involves placing an artificial tooth root directly into your jawbone, onto which a custom-made artificial tooth is then securely attached.
Unlike dentures or bridges, implants don't require altering neighboring healthy teeth, which means no extra stress on them. You'll also be able to chew and speak with a feeling that's very similar to your natural teeth, providing great comfort and confidence.
Implants can also be a highly effective solution for stabilizing dentures. For instance, if you have a lower full denture that tends to shift, or if you prefer an upper full denture without a palate (the part that covers the roof of your mouth), implants can securely hold your denture in place, significantly improving its stability and your comfort.
Dental Implant Treatment Process
Getting a dental implant involves a few key steps to ensure the best results:
- Initial ExaminationBefore starting implant treatment, a thorough preliminary examination is essential. We conduct comprehensive tests, including X-rays, CT scans, and oral models, to create a detailed treatment plan tailored specifically for you. Once you give your consent, we'll schedule your surgery date.
- Beginning Treatment (Implant Placement)We'll ensure your mouth is clean and free of inflammation before starting treatment. After applying local anesthesia, we'll carefully place the dental implant into your jawbone. This implant will serve as the new foundation for your tooth. Following the surgery, we'll wait for the implant to fully integrate with your bone. The healing period varies depending on individual conditions, but it typically takes anywhere from two to six months.
- Preparing for Your New ToothOnce the implant has securely bonded with your jawbone, we'll attach a component called an abutment to the implant. This prepares it for the placement of your artificial tooth (the "superstructure").
- Placing Your Artificial ToothFinally, we'll attach your custom-made artificial tooth (the superstructure) to the implant's head. At this point, your implant treatment is complete.
- Ongoing Maintenance (Check-ups)To ensure your implant lasts for many years, regular maintenance check-ups are crucial. During these visits, we'll inspect the tightness of the implant screw and adjust your bite as needed. While implants themselves can't get cavities, they can be susceptible to periodontal disease if not properly maintained. We're committed to providing thorough support after your treatment to prevent such issues and keep your implant healthy.
