About Pediatric Dentistry

Protecting Your Child's Precious Teeth
A child's teeth significantly influence their adult smile. By carefully managing jawbone growth, we can greatly increase the likelihood of your child having straight teeth without needing surgery later in life. Learning the importance of dental care from a young age also helps children develop lifelong habits for healthy teeth.
At our clinic, we don't just treat cavities; we also focus on preventive care and carefully monitor your child's teeth alignment.
Our Commitment to Comfortable Treatment
In pediatric dentistry, we believe it's crucial to make sure children have as little pain as possible during treatment. If a child has a painful experience at the dentist, they might develop a "dentist phobia" and tend to neglect their dental and oral health problems until they become severe in adulthood.
We strive to provide gentle, low-pain treatment, so please feel confident in bringing your child to us.
Why Are Baby Teeth Prone to Cavities?
Baby teeth are more susceptible to cavities for several reasons:
- Thinner Enamel and Dentin: Baby teeth have enamel and dentin that are roughly half as thick as adult permanent teeth.
- Prolonged Sugar Exposure: Frequent use of baby bottles or giving children many sweets means their mouths are exposed to sugar for longer periods.
- Food Traps: Food tends to get stuck more easily between baby teeth.
- Irregular Alignment: Baby teeth often have an uneven alignment, making them harder to clean effectively with a toothbrush.
Cavity Prevention Treatments
At our clinic, we also offer the following preventive treatments:
-
Fluoride Application
Fluoride has the effect of strengthening tooth enamel and suppressing the activity of cavity-causing bacteria. By regularly applying fluoride to the surface of your child's teeth, we help them develop teeth that are more resistant to cavities.
-
Sealant Treatment
Teeth, especially molars at the back, have complex and fine grooves where it's difficult to completely remove plaque even with brushing. Sealants are a special plastic material applied to these grooves to fill and protect them, preventing cavity-causing bacteria from entering and causing decay.
